Snow Canyon project photo's and ramblings

Since Snow Canyon is so close to my home I go there a lot to walk and to see if I can get some photos that I can work on and learn some of the new stuff that I want to learn (Photoshop stuff).

The stuff that I'm trying to learn this week is to blend two photo's together is what is called a focus stacking or focus blending to end up with a sharp photo from bottom to top.

First off I'm using a Nikon 14-24mm lens that's sharp from bottom to top anyway but if you have a subject that's really close at the bottom of the photo (like this tree, or using the 24mm end) you can use this option to create an image that's sharp from top to bottom with this technique, and it's fun to learn, I'm finding out.

I'm looking foreword to coming to this spot when it rains or snows down here which is what its suppose to do today.

This little area has a water falls that's about 50-100 feet high and would look nice (I hope) as a photo of this area, also this area has some potholes that collect water and grooves that the water after years of moving through have made it a almost groovy river scene (without water its just a big slickrock area).

Well, Thanks for looking

Last night with the Sun and Moon going down at the same time

Headed out to Snow Canyon to a spot that I was looking to take some photo's of, went out in the morning and checked out this spot then went out in the evening to take the photo.

Stumbling round in the darkest part of the night got there and was setting up in the dark but the sun was giving me some light and the moon was coming up to give me a hand with setting up ... thank god for the headlamp that I had on ...

Well! You guy's be the judge and jury.

I like the Desert, calming and serene

This is another short post with a photo of the desert and it's surroundings, just scrubby bushes and cactus with whatever the desert has to offer...

Life in the desert is interesting

Having fun in Zion National park

Well, winter is in and on it's way out at the same time, if you know what I mean. Yesterday felt like a cool spring day or maybe I'm just wanting summer to come.

I'm trying to learn more about this new camera and lenses so have been going to Zion National Park to take advantage of the beauty their that I love, it's for sure over populated even in the slowness of winter but still a great place to spend some time.....

Here are a few taken a few weeks ago before the snows started to happen ....

 Bighorn sheep posing, love it!

Looking down on me to see if I'm going to shoot him and I did

Well! That's all for now just a short note.

Snow in Zion National Park area

Well, this is not your typical red rock photo's it's snow (Sierra cement) it was thick and hard to walk in and I climbed a long way up this road with out one snow mobile to torment me Ha! I love it when that happens ... I drove up the Kolob Resevor road to this area that I've been hiking around in and I love the fact that no one is there to bother me.
The road was quite deep when I got there and did continue to go to the the area where the snow mobiles stage there accents from.
Well here is the couple that I liked.

Snow was wanting to crush me! Ha!

Thick and gooey! But now that I'm down its nice and warm in my home and the muscles are mending.

Take care

About Me

My photo
I lived in Park City,Utah. I've been an avid climber, skier, hiker, Photographer and yoga, participant. Travel much to do all of these activities and want to continue to do more traveling. Now that I've finished my travels of the Oregon Coastline and found that I'm not to fond of the rain but love the Ocean and surf. I'm now settled down in Southern Utah and traveling the four corners area. The warmth of the desert is a welcoming feeling for my wet bones, I love it here and believe I'll stay for awhile. The photographing here is to say the least more fun and really plentiful as you can see if you take a look at my site. Take care and get yourself out of the indoors and out into this great big beautiful world we live in.
