Holy Cow! Another year gone bye

Boy! I've been lazy, I haven't been taking care of this blog very well, so today the 31st of the month last day of December, I'll post one to bring in the new year with.

So here goes ....

Had a fun time in Vegas but it got to me all the smokers and the pot smokers and it's everywhere you go. I wandered around the strip for a night and then the next morning did a little more at a nice place that we'll get to later.

I couldn't resist the timing of this the fire hydrant along with the woman looking at her phone and not even noticing that I was taking a photo Vegas is something.

This shopping center was so bright that I had to tone it down and the cars were all stopped right in front of it at the time so it was a hard shot to get so there you go.

I took this photo just because of the water colors and the sky was turning color at the same time ...

I took this in memory of the Beatles and the area is really beautiful.

Ahh! The Eiffel tower, I was trying to get the reflection but the lens isn't wide enough so it's just the Eiffel tower and the lights all around .....

This is around the MGM I think, I was just lost in my own mind thousands of people and I had my camera equipment stolen from me a couple of weeks prior to this, so nervous.

New York, New York! this is one busy area lots to do here but got to keep on moving there is so much to do and so little time, so move it.

One more of the Eiffel Tower!

This is the Cleveland brain center it's a architectural dream place besides being a brain place for kid's

 Another one

This is not all of them that I have but don't want to bore you all since there aren't any of you that view this blog anymore. Ha!

So the end of the year ya! Think! How's your year been? Mine was good at first bad towards the end and that makes me feel ok a bit, heart attack, camera gear stolen was the biggest things that got to me but all in all it's ok.
Let me know how your year has been! Ok!

Natures stuff

Went to Zion NP today and spent some time in the park and up in the east side of the park also, it was a nice day to be out a little cool and windy in the morning but ended up being really quite nice.

So I up on the East side I found that the leaves were turning color and it's getting pretty up there so spent some time trying my hand at taking close ups of some of the leaves, so here are the results.

Take a look closely at this photo (above) there are a lot of things going on in it!

Well I'm not kinding the colors are popping up here in Zion NP.
Enjoy the Autumnal time of the year

Observation point hike (Zion again)

On Sunday I took a hike that I've been wanting to do for a while, it's up in Zion National Park near Weeping Rock, it's a long hike going 2100 vertical feet up and takes in 4 miles of hiking along a steep switch back to the top of Observation point.

There are many views on this hike it's wonderful hike, although I would do it in the spring or fall when the temperatures are down to a nicer feeling temp.

Well here are a few of the photo's that I took on the way up and on the way down.

This is looking down into Echo Canyon and out into the Zion proper

And this is Echo canyon above that deep gorge above.

This is one of the views to the top

This was part of what I saw on the hike, it was really hot up there and took a lot out of me.

Take care

Night shooting with the Nikon 24mm PC-e

I have done some night shooting in the past and like it a lot but do to the price of the Nikon 14-24 and the protruding nature of the glass I sold it and moved on to other lenses and became ok with not doing night photography.

I have since purchased some tilt shift lenses and really like them they make me take time to shoot instead of the faster pace of other lenses.

So the reason for this post is I took the 24mm PC-e out for some night shooting to see if it would be good enough for the purpose, and have found that it did OK, not great but OK!  So here is one of the shots that I took last night.

Now the light was coming from the moon and it eat up the stars so the stars are not as bright
But not bad, I say.

This one was taken earlier a test shot, the sky was just bland but I liked it so here it is.

Well another posted blab from me.

Fire down here in Brianhead/Cedar Breaks area

Boy! We've got a fire down here, the area is full of smoke and it looks like it might not get better soon since the area of the fire has so many dead trees from the beetles that were killing them off.

So I headed to Zion of course would you think differently about my habits, No! The drive down at that time of morning wasn't looking to bad till I got to the last turn into the canyon then the smoke and haze were bad.
I had an idea of what I wanted to take photo's of so headed up to the Museum to see what the heck I could do, and here are the few that I took till the sun came up and the smoke came down with the wind.

And this one was a little later with some light on the scene

Well, which one is the one you like?
So take care and enjoy today

All around the Angels Landing (Zion NP)

Well, I'm posting more but my images aren't as good as they use to be I think! But they aren't bad just not as practiced as I was when traveling, and also I expect to get great pictures all the time Ha! Jokes on me!

Yesterday was a hot one down here and so I grabbed my shorts and water shoes and went to Zion NP for the day, the water over there was nice about 60 degrees and the water was running at 60 feet per second which a month ago it was up to 300 fps so easier for me to stay standing ...

Now that I've got the news done let me show you some photo's ...

 Angels Landing from the ground
Orange sky reflecting off the other side of this shot
 Across the street monolith

This was the way I saw the world yesterday it was fun and the water was cool on a nice hot day, so have a great fathers day day! And see you soon I hope with more photo's

Take care

Went out for a hike in the evening

So after work yesterday I took a hike that I thought I couldn't do because of the road going to the parking spot, went into a local canyoneering place and they told me that I could do it gave me some confidence to try if not I could always back out, well it was a lot easier than I thought (banged bottom only once and then went slower coming out of the place.

I went to a place in Zion that's called Eagles Craig trail head, suppose to be a gentle hike well it's a up hill gentle hike for 2.8 miles and to make matters worse it was in the heat of the day 95 degrees and I only brought a quart of water and no energy food dumb me! I will not do that again. Till the next time.

Here is the one photo that I took cause I was running out of time in the evening, it's nice view.

Well till next time take care

Living close to Zion you get Zion!

Well, had a great weekend and tomorrow I'm off to work again, it's ok since I had such a fine weekend. I visited Zion National park because this will be the last weekend before the masses come and take over the place, it was not busy and also made for a nice weekend.

I've got a fun toy again and learning how to use it is fun, it's the first lens that I have owned that I will not get rid of (that's a lie, the first one, 135mm is also my joy) but I don't take this one off the camera.

That said here goes again!

This one I thought wasn't going to work but looks nice
Another one that I thought wouldn't look good

They really do something different when they put these on here they don't look like these on my screen!
Angel's landing from below

Well, as you can see it was a nice weekend for shooting in Zion, not many people and lots of fine things to shoot, thanks for looking......

A new day, at Zion National park

Well, its been a while since I last updated, I'm going to be doing more again because it's summer and I have a big Bucket list to get done this summer Soooo! Here goes.

Since the last time I posted I've had a heart attack and it's not slowed me down to much but the doctors have me doing a lot of rehab and I'm getting strong again, so off I go.

I drew out a permit to do the subway hike from the top down, I'm really excited to do this, I've done it from the bottom up but not the top down, I've conned a few folks into coming with me, hope we do it in style (not bad style good style like make it) Ha!

Well, enough BS here goes .....

Saw this reflection and had to try to get a photo of it.

I've tried to get this one for years but haven't got one, now I do!

This one I think is called Minuet Falls

Well, just a short note today and I hope I can keep this up.

About Me

My photo
I lived in Park City,Utah. I've been an avid climber, skier, hiker, Photographer and yoga, participant. Travel much to do all of these activities and want to continue to do more traveling. Now that I've finished my travels of the Oregon Coastline and found that I'm not to fond of the rain but love the Ocean and surf. I'm now settled down in Southern Utah and traveling the four corners area. The warmth of the desert is a welcoming feeling for my wet bones, I love it here and believe I'll stay for awhile. The photographing here is to say the least more fun and really plentiful as you can see if you take a look at my site. Take care and get yourself out of the indoors and out into this great big beautiful world we live in.
